Dujuan and his two siblings grow up with their mother and grandmother in a poor suburb of Alice Springs in Northern Australia. They spend their free time outdoors with friends and on weekends they go with their grandmother into the bush where their community lives. She tries to teach Dujuan her mother tongue and through personal stories pass on the history of his ethnic group. At school, he fights against the education system, which still doesn’t reflect the reality and history of Australia’s indigenous population. A compassionate documentary from the perspective of a 10-year-old Aboriginal boy in his personal struggle to find a safe place to grow up and to reconcile his traditional Arrernte/Garrwa education with state education.
