Seit 2015 verleiht das MOVE IT! Filmfestival den “Filmpreis für Menschenrechte und Entwicklung” an einen von der Festivaljury ausgewählten Film, der für seine herausragende filmische Darstellung mit Menschenrechtsbezug geehrt wird, wobei gleichzeitig das besondere Engagement der Regisseur*in ausgezeichnet werden soll.
Auch in diesem Jahr wird der mit 5.000 Euro dotierte Filmpreis wieder von der Sächsischen Staatskanzlei finanziert.
Im Jahr 2023 geht der Preis an STEFFI NIEDERZOLL für ihren Film SIEBEN WINTER IN TEHERAN.
Since 2015 MOVE IT! Film Festival has been awarding the “Film Prize for Human Rights and Development” to a film selected by the festival jury. This film is thereby honored for its outstanding cinematic presentation with a human rights focus and at the same time recognizes the special contribution of the director.
The film award, endowed with 5.000 EUR, is again financed this year by the Saxon State Chancellery.
In 2023 the winner is STEFFI NIEDERZOLL for her film SIEBEN WINTER IN TEHERAN .
STEFFI NIEDERZOLL wurde 1981 in Nürnberg geboren. Sie studierte von 2001 bis 2007 audiovisuelle Medien an der Kunsthochschule für Medien Köln (KHM) und der Escuela de Cine y Television in Kuba (EICTV). Ihre Kurzfilme liefen erfolgreich auf zahlreichen renommierten nationalen und internationalen Filmfestivals wie z. B. der Berlinale. Sie nahm an verschiedenen Regie-Masterclasses teil und war Stipendiatin der Kulturakademie Tarabya, Türkei.
Neben ihrer filmischen Tätigkeit beschäftigt sie sich auch mit interdisziplinären künstlerischen Arbeiten. Sie war Mitglied der Kerngruppe des Kollektivs „1000 Gestalten“, das während des G20- Gipfels in Hamburg mit seinerPerformance weltweit für Furore sorgte. Ihre kollektiven Arbeiten wurden unter anderem auf dem Brecht-Festival, in der Kunsthalle Baden-Baden und im Museum für zeitgenössische Kunst in Roskilde und Vejle, Dänemark präsentiert. Gemeinsam mit Shole Pakravan schrieb sie das Buch „Wie man ein Schmetterling wird“, das im Januar 2023 im Berlin Verlag erschien. SIEBEN WINTER IN TEHERAN ist ihr erster langer Dokumentarfilm und ihr Debüt als Regisseurin.
STEFFI NIEDERZOLL was born in Nuremberg in 1981. She studied audiovisual media at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne (KHM) and the Escuela de Cine y Television in Cuba (EICTV) from 2001 to 2007. Her short films have screened successfully at numerous renowned national and international film festivals such as the Berlinale. She has taken part in various directing masterclasses and was a scholarship holder at the Tarabya Cultural Academy in Turkey.
In addition to her film work, she is also involved in interdisciplinary artistic endeavours. She was a member of the core group of the collective „1000 Gestalten“, which caused a worldwide furore with its performance during the G20 summit in Hamburg. Her collective works have been presented at the Brecht Festival, the Kunsthalle Baden-Baden and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Roskilde and Vejle, Denmark, among others. Together with Shole Pakravan, she wrote the book „Wie man ein Schmetterling wird“, which was published by Berlin Verlag in January 2023. SEVEN WINTERS IN TEHERAN is her first long documentary film and her debut as a director.
Am 12.11.2023 wurden zudem im Rahmen des 5. MOVE IT! YOUNG Nachwuchswettbewerbes mit dem Thema „GenerationsCHAOS“ drei Preise verliehen. Den diesjährigen Jurypreis erhält der Film „MEINE BABA UND ICH“ vom Projekt Surale Romnja: Starke Frauen – starke Kinder“ des KAROLA e.V., der Preis für den Publikumsliebling geht an „BEIM KAFFEEKRÄNZCHEN“, eine Produktion des MOVE IT! YOUNG Sommercamps 2023 und der Glücksradpreis geht an das Humboldtgymnasium Radeberg für den Film „DER STREIT“.

On 12 November 2023, three prizes were also awarded as part of the 5th MOVE IT! YOUNG young talent competition with the theme „GenerationsCHAOS“. This year’s Jury Prize was awarded to the film „MEINE BABA UND ICH“ from the project „Surale Romnja: Starke Frauen – starke Kinder“ by KAROLA e.V., the Award for the Audience Favourite went to „BEIM KAFFEEKRÄNZCHEN“, a production of the MOVE IT! YOUNG Summer Camp 2023 and the Wheel of Fortune Award goes to Humboldtgymnasium Radeberg for the film „DER STREIT“.
