Postkoloniale Perspektiven im Dokumentarfilm

Die diesjährige Radioshow MOVE IT! ON AIR widmet sich postkolonialen Perspektiven im Dokumentarfilm. Gemeinsam mit der Professorin für politische Theorie Nikita Dhawan (TU Dresden) und der Bildungsreferentin Luana Brückner wird diskutiert, wie koloniale Geschichte(n) erzählt wurde(n) und welche neuen Stimmen heute den Blick auf Vergangenheit und Gegenwart verändern. Im Fokus steht die Frage nach Repräsentation, Macht und Selbstbestimmung im dokumentarischen Erzählen. Anhand des Films HOW TO BUILD A LIBRARY von Maia Lekow und Christopher King wird sichtbar, wie dekoloniale Narrative durch neue filmische Zugänge entstehen und Diskurse verschieben können.

This year’s radio show MOVE IT! ON AIR focuses on postcolonial perspectives in documentary film. Together with Professor of Political Theory Nikita Dhawan (TU Dresden) and Educational Consultant Luana Brückner, the discussion explores how colonial histories have been told and what new voices today reshape views of the past and present. The conversation targets on questions of representation, power, and self-determination in documentary storytelling. Using the film HOW TO BUILD A LIBRARY directed by Maia Lekow and Christopher King as an example, the show illustrates how decolonial narratives can emerge through new cinematic approaches and shift existing discourses.
